Demodex Mites
Bacteria/flora that exist on our skin, populate rosacea skin and non-rosacea skin, Often time, proliferates in rosacea skin
bulletBaterial poliferation in rosacea skin may be associated with vasodilation and increased heat

Dermal Inflammation
Chronic dermal inflammation due to rosacea may activate sensory fibers in the facial skin – resulting in pain sensations, itch sensations and burning sensations

Dermal inflammation may:
bulletAlter the epidermis ‘ability to grow, resulting in a thick, dysfunctional outer barrier
bulletActivate sebaceous glands, causing them to proliferate and clog (Papulopustular Rosacea)
bulletAlter the skin’s immune system, causing the recruitment of pro-inflammatory immune cells into the facial skin
bulletProvoke mites or bacteria within the skin’s pores, causing the release of other inflammatory enzymes
